DURABLE SOLUTIONS

Although we can't always predict the weather, with modern technology in the building and construction industry, we can build (and retrofit) stronger and more storm-resistant homes, buildings and structures with disaster mitigation in mind.

That takes science and a holistic, systems-centric approach to construction. It takes smart design and skillful construction techniques.

Here's a look at building for disasters.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Q: How do you remediate a wall if water gets behind the facade in a cavity wall application?
A: If moisture gets behind the facade material, but does not penetrate the exterior spray foam, than all you need to do is wait for the wall to dry out as spray polyurethane foam is considered mold resistant as tested per ASTM C1338.
Q: How do you fix the foam in a cavity wall that has been damage by a projectile during a natural disaster?
A: At the time of the facade remediation, uncover the damaged foam area and remove and re-apply the area that has been damaged with 2 lb/cu. ft. density spray foam. The spray foam can be re-applied with a professional spray foam machine and/or two-component 'kit foams' by Touch-N-Seal or Versi-Foam.
Q: How does a spray polyurethane foam (SPF) roof perform in high winds?
A: SPF roofs perform very well in all wind regions. Our spray polyurethane foam roofing systems have many approvals and performance certifications for assemblies providing wind uplift resistance performance ranging from 60 lbs/sq-ft to as much as 990 lbs/sq-ft of uplift resistance depending upon the roof assembly configuration.
Q: How do earthquakes affect your closed cell SPF?
A: It is our experience that closed Cell SPF actually has a tendency to hold building materials together as the result of its bond to the substrate and its rigidity. However, if the foam does crack, you will need to restore the damaged building materials, remove the damaged foam, and then re-apply the damaged areas with 2 lb/cu. ft. density spray foam. The spray foam can be re-applied with a professional spray foam machine and/or two-component 'kit foams' by Touch-N-Seal or Versi-Foam.
